The Nashville House Syndicate is an underground house music record label in Nashville, TN. I was tasked with providing a live visual experience during a series of their shows.
DJ sets involve reading the audience and creative expression. To match the energy of the DJ as well as the audience, visuals need to play certain roles. One is to maintain the rhythm of the music visually. This provides a base of support to the energy level of the show.
I wanted the beat-driven music to in turn drive the pace of the visuals. The connection of sound + visuals is powerful and translates directly into energizing the audience. This was done by utilizing decibel levels via a microphone to influence certain variables on effect layers of video content.
